What to Expect @ Loop Bar

We've all been there: getting ready for a big night out in the city when we're hit with a wave of indifference. It's the age old question, "should I go out? Or should I just stay home and cuddle up with a movie?"

Well Loop Bar has the answer, blending the world of cinema with your Friday night out. Nestled in a cozy nook of Meyers Place, this venue offers a relaxed and sophisticated zone where you can go for quiet drink with friends whilst indulging in the creative atmosphere.

On arriving at Loop Bar, you start to get a sense of what may be waiting for you inside, with the laneway benches filled with lively patrons clearly enjoying a wine (or six). As you peel back the sliding door, you are greeted with a sea of comfy couches and an imposing projector screen that usually is sporting student films or short animations. The decor is subdued, with a colour scheme of greys, blacks and reds painting the lounge and the bar.

Taking a seat on the lounge, you're surrounded by a mature crowd of late 20's to late 30's business types. This bar is perfect for winding down after a hard day at the office, and has been adopted as an 'after work drinks' hang-out by many. And as the night marches on, the place starts to fill up with rowdy souls that bring you endless bar-side entertainment.

The drink prices are high (but standard for CBD dives) with $9 dollars getting you a pint of Boags Draught. Similar to the unconventional nature of the venue, the drinks list boasts a never ending inventory of deliciously boutique cocktails, beers and ciders. If you can afford only one of the $18+ mind bending cocktails, be sure to try the 'Just Imagine' - a zesty punch of sweetness that will have you buzzing for the rest of the night. And on those cold wintery nights? Loop serves a mulled wine infused with spices that will fill your nostrils with an intoxicating aroma. They also serve a small menu of bar food, including pizzas, small pies and cheese plates. However, I'd get my food fill somewhere else before arriving, because Loop's offerings are poor.

The 'reel' highlight of this place, of course, is the screenings they host. Every night of the week exhibits something new, with some regular cinematic features being Youtube Tuesday and film premieres. So if you're not really in the partying mood, connect yourself with a couch in front of the projector screens and take in the creativity. Loop Bar prides itself on supporting up and coming creative talent in Melbourne, so venue space hire is free for screen based events. However, if you're after hosting a party here, they also have a number of private functions packages.Loop Bar presents a warm and classy ambience that will certainly make you feel at home.
