Surfers Paradise Beer Garden Review

If you’re after a place that reminds you of your local hotel and not of a super club then the beer garden is the bar for you.

The Beer Garden really is the local watering hole of the Gold Coast; it is famous for its live bands, casual atmosphere, large balconies and jugs of beer (hence the name, Beer Garden).

After undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation in 2009 the venue is a clean, nice place to go in the afternoon to sit on the balcony and watch the ocean or head to before a big night on the town for cheap drinks and jugs of beer for around $12. You don’t have to worry about cover charge because the Beer garden is always free. The Beer Garden also has a restaurant that serves “pub” style foods such as wedges, chips, pizza etc. and the prices are reasonable at under $10 a serve.

Walk up the two levels of stairs and you will see the new look beer garden boasting a long wood carved bar, six pool tables, couches, stools and an outside balcony that overlooks the happenings of Surfers paradise below. The place is not covered in decor; it is fairly basic which in turn provides its relaxed atmosphere. If you’re looking for an afternoon drink or somewhere to have pre-drinks and a catch up than the Beer Garden is a great spot for this.

When you come to the Beer Garden you can expect to find a very diverse crowd, people range from 18 to 40 and the dress code is very casual with most people wearing jeans and t-shirts. Everyone seems to share a good vibe and it creates a happy, fun atmosphere.

If your planning on having your hens or bucks night I would recommend you ring up as they give the bachelor or bachelorette a $100 voucher for bringing their party there.

I have not witnessed it myself but I have heard that Sunday is serious business at the Beer Garden: it is Goldfish Racing Day! Definitely something I would never see in a regular dance club.

The music is never too loud you can’t hear, unless you’re right next to the stage, so you can really come here to sit down and talk. However, don’t come to the Beer Garden with the intention of listening to some DJ sling Lady Gaga because it’s not going to happen.

People will start arrive here anytime from 1pm but there is plenty of seating available and unless it’s Indie week or Schoolies it won’t be too packed, so there is no rush.
