Review of The Archive Beer Boutique

If you’re looking for a bar with a difference, great character and a fantastic selection of Australian beers you can’t go past Archive beer boutique and bistro. Situated in trendy West End, Archive fits in well with the ever growing list of appealling and unique venues that the area has to offer.

However Archive is a little different. The decor is an interesting mix of a library and your grandmother’s lounge room furniture, yet works remarkably well to create a funky retro look for the bar. The aim behind the unique decorations is to create ‘a knowledge inspired theme’ through the use of many books (there’s even a bar made of books!) that complements a beer boutique. The atmosphere this creates is casual and fun, drawing in a young crowd looking for laid back drinks with good company.

The list of beer is extensive, featuring brews from local and national brewers and there is also a range of on tap beers. So no matter your what your preference is when it comes to beer, this impressive selection has something for everyone. Their spirits and wine list are also quite decent for those of us who can’t down beer after beer with quite the same gusto as seasoned beer drinkers.

The menu is quite impressive- a modern Australian theme with a focus on matching the beers with cuisine. The menu features both full meals and grazing platters which can be shared (the cheese platter is delicious!).

With it’s reasonably priced drinks and food (especially the 2 for 1 Wednesday nights for dinners from the grill) a night out at Archive is one that doesn’t have to break the bank. And with Tuesday trivia nights, a pool competition on Thursday nights and live music from three pm on Sundays, it’s no wonder that Archive has become a popular West End spot.
